The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is launching an inaugural, one-day conference event called “Celebrating British Design”. Taking place at RIBA’s London HQ in Portland Place on June 21 2012, it will feature an inspiring line-up of headline speakers and experts drawn from right across the design spectrum.
“The eyes of the world will be firmly focused on Britain in 2012 thanks to the Olympics, Paralympics and the Golden Jubilee,” said BIID president, Diana Yakeley. “In this celebration year, the BIID believes it is entirely appropriate that we honour this country’s excellence in the field of design. ‘Celebrating British Design’ will provide us with just that platform and recognise the varied and enduring contribution to the spatial designs that we create for our clients in residential, commercial, public and hospitality projects.”
The conference will take members on a journey of British design, looking at the impact of its success in the world of interiors, and exploring what the future holds. More details on confirmed speakers and topics will be revealed shortly.
Following the conference, the BIID will host its AGM when the work of the institute during the course of the year is reviewed and plans for the year ahead will be announced. All BIID members are welcome to attend.
For the first time the conference and AGM will take place in the Jarvis Memorial Hall, RIBA’s dedicated venue for large conferences, located on the lower ground floor at 66 Portland Place.
