A hotel in the Lake District beat projects from across the globe to win the title of world’s best international hotel interior.
Fidget Design, based in the Lake District, Cumbria, gained the five-star award in the UK Hotel Awards for best UK hotel interior for its work at the Cedar Manor Hotel in Windermere in the Lake District (pictured).
But, as one of the highest-scoring winners in the UK awards at the Savoy in London last month, it went on to be judged in the International Hotel Awards, leading to it winning the global title as well.
Alison Tordoff, owner of Fidget Design, said: “To discover that we have won the award for the world’s best international hotel interior is just amazing. Winning both awards shows that the Lake District is right up there in terms of design and in terms of the quality of our accommodation.”
It came top over other five-star award hotel interior winners in other ceremonies around the world such as the Clifftop Exclusive Safari Hideaway in South Africa by Laurie Owen Interiors, the Radisson Royal in Dubai by Draw Link Group, the Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residence by Omrania & Associates, One & Only The Palm in Dubai by WA International and Hotel Altis Prime apartments in Lisbon by Cristina Jorge de Carvalho.
Highly commended in the UK hotel interior category was The Claremont Hotel on the Isle of Man, designed by Matthew Godley Interior Design for Sleepwell Hotels and Eclipse Developments (UK). The other highly commended interior was The Torrance Hotel in East Kilbride, designed by Space ID.
The five-star award for best UK hotel architecture went to the Savoy in London, designed by ReardonSmith Architects, while the five-star award for the UK’s best new hotel construction and design went to the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green, London, designed by RARE Architects.
Chewton Glen Tree House Suites in Hampshire, created by Blue Forest (UK) and Terence O’Rourke, won the five-star UK awards for both best hotel architecture and best new small hotel construction and design.
